Dr Nicola Perkins - Head of Centre Nicola has a Ph.D in Envrionmental Biology and a BS.C. in Marine Biology & Oceanorgraphy. After teaching field work to Undergraduates in ecology & freshwater biology, and co-leading a terrestrial biology expedition to Ikaria in Greece, she worked as a Countryside Ranger in Dundee, Scotland, before relocating to Cardiff. Since then she has worked managing & delivering environmental education and practical community regeneration projects across the Heads of the Valleys region for the past 5 years, through the conservation charity BTCV. She is also a keen permaculturalist and is working towards sustainable living in her own life. |

Stephen Tyrrell - Tutor in Geography and Ecology Stephen gained a BSc (Hons.) in Physical Geography from the University of Wales, Aberystwyth, which he followed with an MSc in Environmental Monitoring and Analysis. His main interest was Glaciology, which gave him the opportunity to travel to the Alps for his dissertation fieldwork. Previous work experience includes a season at an outdoor activity centre, teaching on University field trips and working as a seasonal warden for Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park. |

Val Snell - Housekeeper Val joined Ty'r Morwydd in 2002, following previous roles as a housekeeper at an outdoor activties centre, and manager of a playgroup. Val is now responsible for all domestic and catering aspects of the centre. Her hard work was recognised when in 2007 she was voted as a finalist for the 'Extra Mile Award' at the National Tourism Awards. This award recognises people who work behind the scenes who go the extra mile to accommodate guests and to ensure visitors enjoy thier stay. |
